First Response Emergency Care Level 3

 


Our Team Leaders  Lee & Michele, went to a secret location in the hills for the week to complete the FREC 3 course, we booked this in the Autumn last year but the covid restrictions meant we had to wait for 2021, it was an epic and full on week of learning  with lots of scenarios and exam papers. 

We were excited to do this course and were unsure what to expect but it was full on and action packed! we stayed out for the week so we could study in the evening and a week of takeaways what could possibly go wrong ! 


The course...

FREC 3 is made up of mandatory topics of 35hrs not including breaks attended over 5 days, with 4 exam papers and 13 practical assessments in groups and individually 

First Response Emergency Care

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first responder providing emergency care.
  • Be able to assess an incident.
  • Be able to assess a patient.
  • Be able to assess a  patient’s airway.
  • Be able to manage a patient’s airway. (Oropharyngeal and Nasopharyngeal Airways)
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally.
  • Be able to use appropriate equipment during a resuscitation attempt.
  • Be able to administer emergency oxygen.


First Response Emergency Care of Trauma

  • Be able to manage catastrophic bleeding. (Use of Haemostats and Tourniquets)
  • Be able to manage a patient who is in shock.
  • Be able to manage a patient who is bleeding.
  • how to manage a patient with burns or scald.
  • how to manage a  patient with minor injuries.
  • how to manage a patient with sudden poisoning.
  • Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with head and spinal injuries.
  • Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with injuries to bones, muscles and joints.


First Response Emergency Care of Medical Conditions

  • identify a patient with breathing difficulties.
  • how to manage a patient with breathing difficulties.
  • how to manage a patient with anaphylaxis.
  • how to manage a patient with suspected  major illness.
  • how to manage a patient who is in seizure.
  • how to provide emergency care for the effects of environmental exposure.
